Course Outline
The course is broken into 5 modules and each module contains multiple chapters. Course modules are described briefly below:Module 1. LegislationThis covers important federal and provincial MEWP related legislation requirements for the machine, employees, supervisors and employers.Module 2. Staying SafeThis module helps students understand dangers of the machine during use; focusing in depth on the most common incidents and accidents with MEWP’s.Module 3. Know Your MachineThroughout these chapters students gain a strong understanding of the different types of MEWP’s, the importance of the manual, safety decals, machine components, controls, safe guards, axles, capacities, stability principles and use of an envelope management system.Module 4. Starting Off RightLearn the best steps to starting each day and job off right with the machine. This includes best machine choice, pre-operational inspections, function tests, maintenance, hydraulic system dangers, battery charging/maintenance, refueling, weather safety, hazards, hazard assessment/mitigation and rescue planning.Module 5. Safe UseHere we learn about safe operational use of a MEWP, including proper communication, PPE, operating rules/tips, parking/shutting down, record keeping and more.
